there's a fire to the north
where flames
kiss the night sky
and thunder rolls across
your lips
there's an ocean in your  i
where ten million fish
turn gold
then go
belly up
for reasons unknown
rumor has it
you crush mountains
and weak men
between your thighs
there's a jewel entrance
where rivers flow
toward the beginning
of all time

the
emergency
exit
leads
to
nowhere

it leads to the attic
it leads to the basement
it leads to the shopping mall

trying to escape by way of the emergency exit is futile
and
counter
to
the
purpose

there is no escape from the burning house of your existence
let
it
burn

have you seen a house that has
been on fire   and that fire put out
by a crew of emergency fire fighters
it is a mess with its water soaked charred remnants

a
half
standing
besotted
ruin

the church
with its priests
the government
with its bureaucracy
are
the
fire
crew
of
your body mind soul

better
to
burn
to
ashes
than
let
them
